Manchester International Airport Ground Transportation

Manchester Airport (MAN) is served directly by train, shuttle bus, long distance bus (coach), public bus, and taxi. The airport's dedicated transport interchange - the Station - is open 24 hours and links trains, coaches and buses into one building.

The railway station is connected to all three terminals by bridges known as Skylink. Moving walkways help passengers progress along the Skylink.

Train services from the station link the airport with many cities and towns in Lancashire, Yorkshire and elsewhere. These include Manchester , Preston, Blackpool, Sheffield, Leeds and York .

Particularly frequent are the services between the airport and Manchester Piccadilly, the city's central station. During most of the day more than six trains run every hour. A typical journey time from the airport to the city centre would be 14 minutes, though some journeys may take longer.

Manchester Piccadilly station offers a wide variety of connections with places served by the national and regional rail networks. Preston station also offers connections for Cumbria and points north.

Shuttle Bus

Some local hotels provide complimentary shuttle bus services to and from the airport.

Long Distance Bus (Coach)

Long distance bus (coach) services connect the airport with various cities and towns, including Manchester, Liverpool, Chester, Stoke on Trent, Wrexham, Preston, Blackpool, Sheffield, Leeds and York. The principal company providing these services is National Express.

The National Express coach stop is by the airport's Terminal 1 bus station - this serves both Terminals 1 and 3. There is also a coach stop at Terminal 2 Arrivals Hall.

Official taxi ranks are located outside the terminal buildings. Taxis at these ranks are licensed by local and airport authorities. Drivers use meters and tariff lists to determine fares and issue receipts on request.

Terminal 1's rank is outside International Arrivals, Terminal 2's rank is adjacent to Arrivals, and Terminal 3's rank is outside Arrivals.

Public Bus

Manchester Airport (MAN) and local bus operators provide Skyline services that connect the airport with many destinations nearby. Typically, these are slower than the train and coach services outlined above.

The Skyline name is attached to several different routes that go to and from different parts of the city, including Piccadilly Gardens in the middle of Manchester . A typical journey between the airport and Piccadilly Gardens in the centre of Manchester would take (approximately) 1 hour.

All services call at the airport's Terminal 1 bus station, some also call at the airport rail station, and some at a stop outside Terminal 2 Arrivals.
